Can God Use Me?

Can God Use Me?

One day I was convicted as I was writing a text message that read, “Hope you are well?” You might be asking, "what is wrong with that?", but let me explain. When God places people in my heart I send a text message to mark it off my list, without considering how the person on the other end is feeling. There was nothing genuine about my text message. I never allowed the person on the other end to share, I automatically assumed that person was fine. The Bible says, "do nothing out of selfish ambition.." (Philip.2:3) but in this case it was more about me than the other person.

We constantly pray to be God’s hands and feet but we want God to send us to a foreign country to do His work. We don’t need to travel hundreds of miles to be used by God. God’s work is everywhere; the person you work with who is having a difficult time with a project, the person who needs help crossing the street, or by asking the cashier how his/her day is going.

God wants to use us. He wants us to serve (1 Peter 4:10), love (Mark 12:31), and encourage (1 Thessalonians 5:11).

We all want to do great things in God’s name but He wants us to faithful with the little things. Do you know how to tell when he needs you? That tug in your heart when you think of someone or the voice that says you should cook for the homeless; this is God using you to fulfill a need. The Bible says that His sheep know His voice (John 10:4).  Are you listening?

Don’t underestimate what God can do, He doesn’t call the qualified, He qualifies the called.

Prayer: God help me to hear your voice and to be your hands and feet. Help me to be faithful in the small things. I want to make a difference everywhere I go. In Jesus name.

I enjoy exploring neighborhoods and visiting coffee shops. I have a heart for building community.  I love to learn from everyone I come across.
