“This happens to One in four women.” These were the exact words my doctor said right after she confirmed that I had a miscarriage. All I remember thinking was, “Great! I’m the ONE.” No, I wasn’t receiving the gold medal for being number one; instead, it felt like I had been cursed. I even remember thinking, why would she tell me that? Was my doctor trying to make me feel better? Was she trying to say that I was apart of this elite group? Because if she was, then she gets an F++ for execution! As I look at my life, there are MANY times that I earned that number One spot.
I am the One in nine women to be sexually abused as a child.
I am the One in five women to have dealt with anxiety.
I am the One in six women who struggled with pornography addiction.
No, I didn’t get a spot on the highest part of the podium or a beautiful bouquet of flowers. My bouquet was anger, shame and confusion wrapped with a ribbon of defeat. Let me tell you, my journey has at times felt like walking through quick sand. These were the times in my life that I wished I never got first place!
Some of you women feel the same way now. You feel that everything bad only happens to you. You feel that you have been forgotten and tossed by the wind like a broken plastic bag. You only feel victorious in failure. But here is the the thing about One.
There is only ONE.
The scribe said to Him, "Right, Teacher; You have truly stated that HE IS ONE, AND THERE IS NO ONE ELSE BESIDES HIM;” Mark 12:32
I learned early on that my testimony was not my own! That all that I had endured and will endure will NEVER compare to what my Lord and Savior did for me! I learned that my number one was no match for THE ONE!
Jesus, was one with me, enduring and healing all at once. He knew that I would rise from the pit to breathe LIFE into women that lost all hope. What Satan plotted against me has BACKFIRED IN HIS DISGUSTING FACE AND BLOWN UP......HORRIBLY.
I am the One who carried life again
I am the One who survived
I am the One who found peace
I am the One who overcame
So the next time you find yourself adding up your stats...Remember that, in the end you WIN because of THE ONE! And trust me, our Father NEVER loses!
“For the LORD your God is THE ONE who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory.”Deuteronomy 20:4
